12 simple and adorable DIY projects for the lazy crafter

Attention all energy-challenged crafters.

Do you have DIY on the brain but don’t know if you have the energy in your body to follow through? Starting a project can definitely seem daunting no matter what you decide to make. Time is precious and sometimes our energy reserves are at a minimum. We feel you.

Many people start projects that are too complicated to finish or have way too many steps. We have a perfect list of doable projects to get your DIY juices flowing. They are quick, inexpensive, and won’t take too much of your precious time. Best of all, they are all really cute and worth the energy.

Do your creative self a favor. Try just one or all of these ideas and then sit back and enjoy your handiwork.

1. Baby Food Jar Snow Globe

Do you have an empty baby food jar (or any old jar with a lid) lying around the house? This super cute snow globe can be made in just a few simple steps. Grab some glitter, some tiny pom pom balls and whatever else you want in your snow globe and get started.

First, fill the jar with distilled water and add your glitter and pom poms. Paint the lid any color you like and fix any little ornament with glue that dries waterproof.

2. Book Animals

This may look complicated and tedious but it is a quick, easy DIY. Three things might happen if you decide to make this. You may smile more. You will most likely impress your kids and other guests. You might give it a name and refer to it as your new best friend.

3. Personal Rain Cloud

Have you ever thought about making a cloud? I mean…who hasn’t right?! Well now you can. This simple DIY is adorable and adds a little something special to a room. Change up the thread to make a rainbow of colors or stick with greys and blues if you’re feeling a little like Eeyore.

4. Yogurt cup vase

This simple DIY uses an old yogurt cup and transforms it into a dainty vase. Decorate the outside of the yogurt cup any way you wish. This tutorial uses a string of beads for the outside but feel free to change it up with fabric, string or rope. No one will ever know it used to be last week’s strawberry banana with the fruit on top.

5. Phone Case Decor

This might be the easiest DIY ever and all you need is a clear phone case. Grab some pressed flowers or a small amount of wheat or grass and place it behind the phone case. Thats it, you’re done! You now have a one-of-a-kind case.

6. Button Bowl

If you have some buttons stashed away somewhere in your house, it’s time to make use of them. This colorful button bowl is easier than it looks and a great project for kids or adults. All you need is a balloon, some glue and buttons. Be creative with colors and patterns.

7. Faux Stone Planter

Believe it or not, this planter is made of plastic and was purchased at the Dollar Store. To create the ‘stone look,’ simply rub caulking glue and sand on the outside of the planter. When it is dried, spray paint the planter and add some finishing touches with darker paint. This one looks expensive but it is a beautiful, cheap, and more importantly, simple DIY.

8. Plastic Spoon Candle Holder

Brace yourself for this easy DIY. With plastic spoons, spray paint, and glue, you can make this decorative votive. With step-by-step instructions, this is a project you can accomplish with ease.

9. Toilet Paper Roll Wreath

This project can go in many creative directions, however, you will be blown away by the result. Simply by cutting a toilet paper roll into small circles, you can arrange them into beautiful shapes. In this DIY, the artist makes a wreath and spray paints the finished product. Time to go get your toilet paper rolls out of the trash.

10. Milk Carton Village

If you have kids or maybe just like the idea of making a tiny village from old creamer or milk containers, you need to try out this DIY. All you need is paint, some old cardboard cartons and a big imagination. You could make one of these whimsical villages for the holidays or a haunted one for Halloween.

11. Personalized Planters

If you have white coffee mugs or white planters in your home, why not personalize them? Grab a sharpie pen and draw a simple design or even your best friend’s name. Sometimes it is ok to draw on our nice things.

12. Paper Pencil Holder

This colorful DIY is nothing but rolled-up paper. Choose the color paper that appeals to you and start rolling! The tutorial shows how to cut the paper and roll it so you end up with the perfect size tube. The paper tube is then folded three times and the ends are joined. Glue the pieces on top of one another and you have yourself a pencil and pen holder.

DIY projects can make us sweat at times but it doesn’t have to be so overwhelming. Sometimes we just need a simple idea and a great tutorial to help us along. Once we get started, it comes down to our own imagination and style. Try one of these fun, easy projects today.
