And speaking of decorations, we have just the thing to spruce up your space and fill it with a bit of holiday cheer. And the best part is you can make them yourself.

Here are 4 different origami snowflakes

Origami is a good activity not just for you but for kids as well.

The seemingly simple task of folding a paper can help children with fine motor skills, problem-solving, and creativity.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • sheets of square paper
  • scissors
  • glue

There will be measurements in this article, but feel free to use a size that you’re comfortable with or is aligned with the design you have in mind.

Prepare six square sheets of paper. You can start with a 9x9cm sheet.

Then, fold the sheets into triangles by folding one corner onto its far opposite.

You’ll end up with small triangles.

Then, from the edge of the paper, make 5 cuts straight up toward the folded center.

Do not cut all the way through.

Unfurl your origami. You should end up with a diamond with flaps.

Glue the tips of the flaps with the opposite side.

The loops you’ll create should face two ways – one inward and one outward.

Do this every other pair.

Glue the arms together to form a snowflake.

Get 2 pieces of A4 paper. Put one paper over the other then start folding the sheets like an accordion.

The thickness of the fold should be around 2 cm. Cut off the excess paper.

Then, fold your accordion at the center to make a fan.

Trace your pattern on one side then cut it out. Repeat the steps on the other sheet of paper.

Unravel your paper and glue them together to form a sun-like snowflake.

It might not be geometrically close to an actual snowflake but it’s as beautiful.

First, you’ll need six square sheets.

Fold the paper on one side to create a triangle then fold again once more to make a smaller triangle.

Make four horizontal cuts on one side.

When you unfurl it, you should end up with a diamond-shaped paper with cuts.

Using your pen as the first guide, glue together the innermost pair into a cylinder.

Repeat the process and make sure the flaps are facing the opposite direction.

Glue them together to form your snowflake.

Fold the 14x14cm sheet in half.

Draw a strip 1 cm wide in the middle of the paper.

Fold one edge of the paper toward the farther side of the drawn strip. Do this on the other side as well.

Glue one edge onto the other.

The next parts are a bit complicated so make sure to watch the video to see how to fold the next parts.

Repeat this to make six origami parts.
