Attic looks like it belongs in a horror film until man remodels it into stunning dream closet for wife
When a remodeler decided to convert the scary attic in his own home into an amazing walk-in closet, no one could have envisioned how spectacular it would turn out to be.

For some people, a tiny closet is a dealbreaker when buying a home. The husband may have a ton of ties or the wife may have a stack of shoes; either way, a fair amount of space is needed for their personal items.

If you’re custom building a home, it’s easy peasy to work a glamourous walk-in closet into the floor plans. They can have a dressing room with floor-to-ceiling mirrors for modeling the day’s outfit or pull-out sliding drawers for storing shoes.

There are sometimes nooks carved out for storing purses and bags. Maybe there’s even a motorized system that rotates the clothes by you so you can see everything there is to wear.

But when buying an existing home, you get what you get…

Rodolfo Cabrera and his wife bought a fixer-upper for themselves and their daughter Joserin with the intention of breathing new life into the rundown house. One area that remained untouched after the complete overhaul from drab to fab was the attic.

Finally, Rodolfo decided that it was time to beautify the attic. He planned to convert the yucky cobwebby space into a gorgeous walk-in closet.

“One day, I went up to my attic and I began to think ‘Wow, we have all this empty space that we can transform into something else.’”

It was impossible to imagine the makeover, but he did it! It helps that Rodolfo has worked as a home remodeler for 15 years.

The native of Guatemala who lives in Maryland owns Remodeling and Design LLC and together with his crew, spent three weeks and almost $30,000 revitalizing the attic. He had envisioned what it would look like and wanted a “dream closet” for him and his wife.

Of course, before any major renovation could occur, they had to clean the attic first, which wasn’t an easy chore. Once it was prepped and ready, Rodolfo and his crew put up the framing, did the electrical work, hung drywall, plastered the walls and ceiling, then added LED lights.

Once the skeletal structure was in place, then came the fun part. They installed shelves and decorated.

Creating a way up to the attic proved to be the toughest part. But Rodolfo’s creativity and talent shone through as he built a floating staircase.

“They are only attached to one wall so we needed to add as much support as we could to that one side.”

Daughter Joserin shared the jawdropping transformation photos on Twitter where people everywhere were stunned at the magical changes Rodolfo made. Of course, her photos went viral.

Her tweet about the attic-converted-to-closet received more than 439,600 likes and was retweeted more than 68,200 times!

She never expected such attention to be paid to her tweet about a closet. But she and her mom knew it was pretty impressive.

“We were both really amazed because we knew it was going to look good but he exceeded our expectations.”

According to Joserin, the rest of their house actually looks as impressive as their attic. It must be incredible!

“Everything was redone by my dad and his company, Remodeling And Design LLC, before we moved in.”
