Do you often hear your parents say, “In my days…?”

Most parents of the older generation start their childcare criticism with this statement because parenting techniques before the 21st century is so different from present times.

Parents before allowed their children to get so many cuts, bruises, and scrapes because they built character. Parents now panic when their children get even a paper cut.

Parents before got away with letting their children try anything that would be considered illegal and child abuse now.

Don’t believe us?

Back in the 1930s, when parents wanted their children to learn to swim, all they needed were a strong rope and fishing rod. And the kids don’t come out of the water until their parents pulled them up. Well, it is a great way to learn not to drown.

If any of these methods were still done today by parents, these parents would be jailed by the authorities immediately.

We’re glad the authorities changed parenting rules.
