The mini trampoline or rebounder was created in 1938. The device didn’t come into prominence though until the early to mid-80s. And while their popularity waned around the end of 1984, millions were left with mini trampolines in their garages, attics, and other storage areas. Fortunately, they can now be put to another use.

A garden-bed swing gives you a place to relax within your garden. Making a swing is relatively easy as long as you have the materials and time to do so. To start you’ll need some pool noodles, some spray-on glue, material, and rope. So, how exactly do you turn a mini trampoline into a one-of-a-kind garden bed swing?

Start by padding the outer edge of the mini trampoline. You can do this using cut up pool noodles, which you can find for cheap at a variety of retailers. Just make sure to get enough to go all the way around the edge. Once the noodle padding is in place, apply spray-on glue to the pool noodles and cover them with a fabric.

Next, you need to secure the ropes. When doing so, make sure to use rope that is strong enough to hold the weight of anyone that might sit on the swing. You want to have the rope attached at various points around the circumference of the converted trampoline.

Also, remember to leave a slightly wider opening between two of the ropes to give swing users a way to get into the swing without any difficulty. Before you hang the swing up it is also a good idea to recheck that the ropes are securely connected.

After hanging the swing up in your garden, you should check to make sure that it is stable and that it won’t came crashing down when someone sits on it. Once you have done this, decorate the swing with cushions, pillows, and other materials of your choice or that go with your existing garden decor.

Using a Larger Trampoline

You can also use larger trampolines if you want for a family-size swing. Just make sure that the rope you use is sturdy enough to support everyone’s weight. You could also consider using metal chain instead of rope for better strength and durability.

Likewise, you should also make sure that where you decide to hang the larger swing is secure and high enough off of the ground. You might even have to build a separate framework for the larger swing to ensure that it is safe for use.
