Start off by ironing around the area of the hole.

Grab a pair of scissors and start snipping away at those loose ends.

Just be extra careful with those fingers.

Use the tip of the scissors to cut away, it’s just easier.

Invert the legs inside out and lay them flat on a clean surface.

Press down on the hole then use a clothes iron to smooth out and press further down on the tear.

With soft cloth, cut out a square shaped piece and press it over the hole then use that hot iron again to press down over it making sure it covers the tear.

Then the sewing begins.

It’s not exactly easy to do, but with a bit of practice, you’ll be able to sew over the damaged part.

Or take it to someone who can do the sewing for you.

But just look at how that covers up the ripped area!

Viewers have chimed in with their own DIY repairs.

“All my pants almost always show wear and tear exactly the same area. The way I repair mine is I mend them by hand, straight stitch over and over until it covers the whole spot nicely. There’s no other better feeling than a very well worn pant given another lease on life πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜€ Those ‘have-seen-better-days’ pants are the most comfortable ever!!!” says one.

Another viewer shared,

“I used a piece of stretchy denim (soft) and stitched it on the underside using a straight stitch about an inch away from the hole, where the fabric was thicker. Then I used a zigzag stitch inside the straight stitching to hold the frayed fabric. Did this on jeans and dress pants for my husband when I was married.”

There are many ways to repair ripped jeans!

Sewing does a great job of covering up that hole and that “scratched” looking area.

Once done, cut out the excess part of the soft cloth you used to cover up the hole.

Invert the legs once again so they’re the right side out.

New jeans are nice but old ones are way more comfortable.

There’s something about worn in jeans that just feels like home.
