It’s always a nice idea to go through your wardrobe. It allows you to find clothes that you can keep for the next season and pieces that don’t fit you anymore. But after doing spring cleaning, what do you do with the clothes that no longer belong to your cabinet? You can throw it away and contribute to the problem of textile waste or you can repurpose your old clothes.

One woman’s tip for repurposing old shirts is going viral on the internet.

In the video, Mirra diy shows how to turn an old shirt into a baby dress. The steps are easy to follow and there’s nothing complicated about the steps. Whether you’re a pro or not, you’ll surely be able to follow.

Here are the steps:

First, get a buttoned men’s shirt.

Lay it on a flat surface and open the buttoned part. Draw a big circle on the exposed part and cut it out. If you are feeling a bit unsure, you can use a guide for this. A circular baking pan will do. Just make sure that it measures 16 inches.

Get a liner and use the circular fabric to cut a similar piece.

It’s important to keep the measurement the same. Cut the excess fabric and sew them together.

Next, cut the rest of the shirt.

Remove the collars and cut off the sleeves of the shirt. You also need to cut away the cuffs.

Following the video, you should be able to get four pieces of fabric that measure 11 inches in width and 18 inches in length.

Sew the pieces together.

Make sure that the top part measures 8 inches. You can mark it to be sure.

Next, keep the length to 18 inches while the neck slit should be around 2 inches or 5 centimeters. This is for both length and width.

Above the shoulder measurement should be 3.5 inches. The length of the hand slot is 6 inches.

Once you’re able to get the proper measurements, you can draw the outline of the dress and proceed with cutting.

Start by sewing the neck part only. Then, do the same thing for the shoulder part. Do the sides and bottom part last.

And for the circular fabric, you can actually turn it into a hat. You can see the steps for that near the end of the video.

And you’re done!

It’s super easy, right?
