Homesteader stacks old bricks to make simple outdoor cook stove
This is a simple stove that nearly anyone could put together in almost any situation. They just need bricks and a grate.

When a lot of zombie movies came out in cinemas and in our television shows, we all thought, how to survive if zombie apocalypse came?

We are all thinking about it, right?

We thought about how to survive in the woods or how to cook our food if that happened.

It can be done.

But before we think about it, maybe it is right to just learn basic survival skills to survive if an emergency happened.

Let’s learn from this video with Christa Swartz.

Meet Christa Swartz

In her bio in Instagram, Christa identifies herself as a writer, glamper, speaker, and singer.

And there’s another one that describes her, she is a prepsteader.

According to www.homesteading.com, prepsteaders are people who save up food and supplies for emergencies and possible hard times in the future.

But they do not lose sight of protecting the environment and living sustainably in the present.

One video got over 400k views.

The video is about how to build a simple outside cook stove.

Many commenters remind viewers to be careful doing this because, of course, it involves fire.

Is “prepsteading” for you?

Well, if you’re all about living fully, doing your best to heal the land around you and sustain it, it just might be something to get interested in.

The life hacks and videos shared by Christa through the Prepsteaders channel were learned from her grandparents who had a mindset toward self-sufficient survival.

Here are the materials:

  • Bricks
  • Stainless grill or unused hangers
  • Dried woods

Building an emergency brick cook stove

Step 1. Collect unused bricks. Any kind of bricks will do.

Step 2. Make a perfect square.

What you’re going to do is find the four best bricks that you’ve got to work with that are the most uniform in height, size, and width.

These bricks will form the foundation.

Adding a grill

Step 3. Add a used or old grill on top of the first layer.

Step 4. Build three more brick layers like the first. Lay them so they fit tightly together.

Step 5. Remove two bricks from the first and second layers to create an open hole.

You can now replace the one brick in the second layer with half brick.

Step 6. Put dry wood inside.

Step 7. Light it up from the bottom.

Now, you’ll have a beautiful fire to cook your food.

Step 8. Add stones

This will allow you to start the cooking process.

In this video, Christa shared how to cook using this stove both with a pan and on the open grill.

In the end, Christa reminds us that we’re living in a culture of comfort and convenience, but there’s nothing to lose if we learn survival skills before we need them.
