What’s so great about them is that they are most often cheap, you can customize them, and the process of creating something and seeing the outcome is therapeutic.
Now that the holiday season has started, we came across a DIY project that will make you feel pretty excited.
The project is a light-up decoration that will make any home or porch, stand out.
Think of something made of ice yet can give your home that glimmer that can last for weeks or months.
What’s amazing is that they are easy to make and won’t even hurt your budget.

This project was created by Chloe Crabtree, a blogger, and influencer that shares her easy-to-follow DIY projects.
Let’s start by gathering all the things that you will need.
First, a trip to the Dollar Store.
Get 4 big crystal-cut plastic punch bowls that measure 3.75×11.25 inches.
Then, also get 5 smaller bowls which are clear plastic fluted serving bowl that measures 8.5×3.75.
You will also need the following:
- adhesive
- battery operated Christmas lights
- old glue gun
- sandpaper
- clear tape
- wire cutters
Let’s start creating your Christmas ornament:
First, remove any sticker tag on your bowls.
Using your old glue gun, melt a few holes that will form a circle at the bottom of each of your bowls.
Remember not to use too much pressure because you’ll end up breaking them.
Once you have your holes ready, sand them and remove any sharp parts.
Start with your first small bowl.
Put it upside down. It’s better to set it on a tray so you can move the ornament later.
Place the battery-operated pack under the bowl. Leave 1 to 2 lights inside.
Pull lights through the small hole.
Take the bigger bowl and secure it on top of the small bowl that’s upside down. Again, pull the lights up.
Leave some lights on the big bowl and then get another big bowl. Turn it upside down to create a dome, but before you secure it into place, pull the lights up.
Bring them together.
Use adhesive to secure the two big bowls together.
Once the bowls are secured together, repeat the process, but this time, use the smaller bowls, then another set of the larger bowls.
When you’re done, you would want to use a cover of an old candy dish to put a little design on the top of the ornament.
You wouldn’t want the people seeing the hole you created, right?
Chloe decided to put a mini tree skirt or even faux snow at the bottom of the ornaments to give it that ice sculpture tree look.

You can add more lights, more color, and whatever you want to add to make it better and prettier.
