COVID is putting a real damper on some people’s daily routines and thus their mental health.

People who once dressed to the nines and always put themselves together are now reduced to wearing sweat and loungewear day in and day out.

There’s no real sense in getting all dressed up and putting on makeup just to sit around.

It’s called a “COVID rut” or at least that’s what Candy, an environmentalist from New Jersey, is calling it.

Candy had already become concerned about the effects of aging on her appearance but then COVID just went in and made things a lot worse.

“I am quickly approaching my 54th birthday and I was really starting to look old,” Candy admits.

“I was looking on YouTube and such to trying to find ways to use makeup to even out my eyes you know they are kind of uneven and just overall give me a better skin tone a more even skin tone, and I struggled. I really struggled to get my makeup to look right. I want to look more than presentable.”

She said that her goal for 2020 was to go to the grocery store, work, or anywhere for that matter, and have people able to look at her and say “she gives a shit.”

But then 2020 hit, putting a serious damper in some people’s glow up plans. Sending some into something you can refer to as pajama life.

“It’s nice to be in lounge wear for a day or two. It really takes a toll when you do it for too long. I’m in a serious rut,” Candy said.

So, much so that she was willing to give Makeover Guy Christopher Hopkins full reign over what to do with her hair.

Hopkins is known throughout the world for his dramatic makeover transformations.

“I’ve had pixie cuts, I’ve had long hair, whatever you want to do I’m down with it. I want you to have fun too Christopher,” Candy explained.

Before her makeover, Candy had straight hair past her shoulder to the top of her chest that was brown with blonde highlights.

After her makeover, Candy had shoulder-length hair with gorgeous soft waves that were ash or dirty blonde color with blonde highlights.

And her makeup and clothing were perfect and gave her exactly what she was looking for.

“I came here with super high expectations. They were so far exceeded that it’s unbelievable. He set the foundation so I can fix my hair without it being frizzy and dry and I had no idea I could make my dry and frizzy hair look like this.”

Candy stressed the importance of taking care of yourself and putting yourself together in times like these in order to help you feel confident.

Especially, when trying to get yourself out of a COVID rut.

“OMG! rut to strut your stuff. This is a night and day difference. Good for her and god bless YOU,” wrote one YouTuber.
