“The opposite of chaos”

Vicki welcomed Bryce to what she calls “the opposite of chaos.”

It’s a nice sanctuary that one would be amazed and feel lucky to have.

The tiny house is settled on a big property.

The owner of the land opened the doors for a few of them to rent a space on the property and live alongside the community of about a dozen adults and a few kids.

It’s a really beautiful mix.

The owner runs a permaculture farm.

He teaches food growing courses for the public and opens the farm to let everyone experience a little bit of paradise with him.

An outdoor-inspired yoga studio is present as well, along with a treatment room for massage and acupuncture.

As part of the community, they do their share in clearing out some areas or coming together for a party.

But generally, they all live their separate lives.

Vicki had a normal-sized house.

It was situated in Christchurch, New Zealand.

But when earthquakes struck the area, she had to pay her mortgage and knew she needed to do something fast.

So she moved to Australia and stayed with some friends in Sydney.

She got a job and started putting her life back together.

After 6 years, the insurance company built her house, but she already had a life in Australia and has not gone back.

Vicki mentioned that after everything that a person has owned gets destroyed in an earthquake, they begin to re-evaluate their needs and priorities.

And being simple is better.

Vicki has researched for years looking for the builder that suits her needs and found one that does all customization in Queensland.

It was Christmas morning when she woke up for the first time in her tiny house.

The house in general is built with lighter colors as she wants to reflect as much light as possible.

The front patio is covered, has an open space with chairs, and is surrounded by trees and gardens.

The interior is simple and cozy, with a mix of light shades of green, timber, and copper that blend with the surrounding rainforest.

Tranquil, relaxing, and calm.

Those were Vicki’s goals.

The space and storage are neatly utilized from the kitchen to the lounge and stairs to her loft bed, which adds vibrance.

The Timber on the kitchen finish adds more value as a whole.

The bathroom is well placed with a sink on the side, a shower area, and a toilet.

Her clothes and vanity are also tucked inside the cabinet in her bathroom with a washing machine, which helps save space.

Lastly, the loft has her bed settled in with a skylight in the ceiling, which lets her watch the stars at night.

She also uses the bed space to meditate.

10 months and counting

She’s been living in this tiny house for 10 months and has exceeded her expectations.

Though there were some challenges when it was built, it’s all part of the journey and is worth it.

Waking up every day has been beautiful, she wanted to live this kind of life with nature.

It helps her deal with stress better than she used to.

Vicki has created an enchanting home. After all that she’d been through, it’s inspiring to see that she’s able to rebuild a life that is beautiful.
