For a lot of people, decorating your own place is one of their favorite things to do, but sometimes you want to add a little bit of an extra touch.

It turns out that home decoration doesn’t always have to be expensive, because there are some clever, ingenious tips and lifehacks you can use to make your home look a lot more expensive and high-end.

The YouTube channel Hometalk recently posted a video about this, which has gone massively viral with over 20 million views. We’ve compiled a list of 15 great lifehacks here, and you can check out the YouTube video at the bottom of this article.

1) Sliding doors

If you’ve ever been into a home that has sliding doors, you just know that these things are pretty damn cool. Luckily, you can easily make one yourself, something Hometalk calls a ‘sliding faux barn door’. It’ll take a bit of work and effort, but it’s a pretty inexpensive solution to make your home look and feel more high-end.

2) Transform your toilet wall

The smallest and at the same time, perhaps the most boring room in the house – separate toilet rooms. Usually, you’ll find toilets in the bathroom, but if you’ve got a guest toilet, for example, why not get rid of that rather bland white wall and add some planks to make it look a lot more aesthetically pleasing.

While some people may disagree, there’s really nothing wrong with filling up rooms with cool things and furniture. A small accent table, for example, really adds a lot of sophistication and elegance.

4) Pimp up your microwave

Let’s face it – microwaves aren’t exactly the sexiest things in the home, but you can definitely do your best to make it look a lot more expensive. Just grab some marble patterned contact paper at the Dollar Store and give your microwave a high-end facelift.

Mercury is a rare metal, and giving your items a mercury-like look definitely adds to the high-end factor. Armed with a spray bottle and some glitter, you can create these aesthetic-looking mercury glass jars.

A boring and white ceramic bathtub? Not anymore! You can take some inspiration from the above idea and add a rocky surface to your bathtub for a completely different look. It’s also probably one of the easiest things to do on this list.

7) Give your old closet doors a makeover

Not every dressing or master bedroom has modern or stylish closets, so why not spice things up a little bit? With a little bit of white or black paint, a bit of handiwork, and some beautiful glass knobs, you won’t even recognize your old closet when you’re done.

It’s pretty amazing how much of a difference a simple frame can make to your mirror – it really makes it look a lot more special and noteworthy. Luckily, frames are about one of the easiest things you can make yourself!

If you’re into interior design, fur is definitely one of the most popular trends right now. The problem is, furniture with fur isn’t exactly cheap. Luckily, you can just DIY an old chair into a regal faux fur foot still by getting rid of the top half and doing some crafty work.
