79-Year-old lady living an 1800s lifestyle explains why she couldn’t be happier
Margaret leads a "quaint" lifestyle indeed but it's far from easy. Life in the 1800s was nothing if not a test of one's fortitude.

Every year, cellphone and laptop companies launch new models, each one more efficient and hi-tech.

Technology is indeed overwhelming – it has given us so much opportunity and has helped us with our work, study, and even with our relationships.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Not everyone is thrilled about technology.

Meet 79-year-old Margaret Gallagher.

Gallagher lives alone in County Fermanagh, Ireland, just near the town of Belcoo.

Margaret lives in her 280-year-old white-washed home with a thatched cottage roof and timbers made from bog oaks.

This house is more than just a sight to see; it’s also Margaret’s ancestral house, a treasure she loves.

As low-tech as it gets.

Her house doesn’t have running water, electricity, and no Wi-Fi, of course.

In fact, she doesn’t desire to know or try these new technologies. For her, the life that she’s living now is the best one and she couldn’t ask for more.

She even cooks like it’s 1800.

What’s more unbelievable is that Margaret cooks over an open fire.

Chores are a blessed part of life.

She also takes care of her livestock, and she can still get water from a spring using a bucket daily.

As the sun sets, Margaret gets ready to sleep, and she wakes up once the sun has risen.

She gets plenty of sleep, eats healthy food, and gets daily exercise by raising her livestock and getting water from the well. Indeed, Mary is living her life to the fullest.

Margaret’s grandfather was the first owner of the property in the 1800s. Since then, the beautiful, sturdy, and simple home has been their family’s pride.

It’s even considered a living museum.

Margaret is kind enough to allow people to see her humble home. She wants to share the beautiful history of the place and the beautiful way of living that she enjoys.

At first glance, you wouldn’t believe that the beautiful home is 280 years old. How is it even possible to maintain a house like this?

Everything is beautiful.

An idyllic setting for retirement.

When you go out of her beautiful home, you will be greeted with an equally beautiful surrounding, perfect for her hobby of reading.

She doesn’t miss a thing.

For Margaret, her old but beautiful thatch cottage is everything to her. She doesn’t long for the city life or the gadgets that will take most of your time.

The closest technology that Margaret has is her mobile phone and a wind-up radio.

She gets in touch from time to time and even listens to the news, but most of the time, she just enjoys her alone time with her books.

Margaret loves living off the grid.

She enjoys each day. She also loves to share her home’s story with those who love to listen.
