Three years…if you think about it, that’s a long time. During that timeframe, a child goes a from newborn to a toddler tearing through the house. And groundbreaking news about medicine and technology emerges. The bottom line…a lot can happen in that period. But now, imagine working on one project for that long.

Hard to fathom

Whether remodeling a home, rebuilding a car, or working on some other project, it’s rare for someone to dedicate three years of their life to complete it. But that’s the story of Chris Lodge, a 45-year-old construction worker with a dream.

A burly construction worker

When it comes to construction workers, the first thing people envision is someone with calloused hands and big muscles. While that’s true for Chris, he also has an amazing creative side. He wanted to do something unique to his property and that’s what he did.

An extraordinary plan

He created a garden. Now, this isn’t just a small plot of land with a few plants and trees. No, Chris took land that he owned and completely transformed it. Someone asked why he chose this particular type of project and his response was simple, “This garden is just so great for the mental health.”

A jungle-like setting

For a full three years, Chris slaved over his garden project. He started by coming up with a plan. From there, he went through a design phase. And finally, he put in a lot of hard work. It paid off…this garden looks more like a resort island you’d find tucked away in the jungle.

Shared enjoyment

Chris did this for himself, his wife, and their beloved dog, Dice. As you can imagine, any pup would love having a garden like this to romp through. For all of them, it’s therapeutic.

Struggling with seizures

Dice has seizures from time to time. For that reason, Chris or his wife can’t leave him alone very long. Doing so could put their furry friend at risk of injury from thrashing around. And considering Dice is an important part of the family, this garden gives him a place to relax outdoors.

Bringing his dream to fruition

Now, with the garden complete, Dice has a safe place where he won’t get hurt. It’s also become an oasis where Chris and his wife can unwind. Especially working hard construction jobs, this helps ease both the body and the mind.

A labor of love

Not only did the garden take three years to finish but also a substantial amount of money. Remember, this isn’t just any ordinary garden. Instead, Chris included rope bridges, special lighting, tropical succulents and trees, a waterfall, Koi fish, and even a Tiki hut.

Awesome for gatherings

But Chris, his wife, and Dice aren’t the only ones who get to enjoy this magical place. On occasion, they have special parties. To make those even more exciting, Chris added masks to his garden that he wears to entertain guests.

Simply breathtaking

Few words can describe just how stunning the garden is. Chris focused on every detail, making sure the plan came together exactly as he wanted it. The garden includes decorative flamingoes, beautiful hanging vines, wood that can withstand a high-moisture environment, and even a faux monkey.
