It’s spring which means the flowers are blooming.

But so are the weeds.

Weeding can seem like an endless task.

When you pull one out, another pops up.

Weedkiller can make the task a lot less burdensome.

But first, think about if using weed killer is right for you. Using it in a flower bed or walkway might be a great solution, but using it on your lawn might not be such a good idea.

“Sometimes you can’t control exactly where the weed killer disseminates when sprayed. If you’re afraid of brown spots in your lawn, a weed puller and a bucket can be your best bet,” Leslie Reichert, founder of Green Cleaning Coach, told Real Simple.

But some are hesitant to use weed killer since they often contain nasty chemicals.

The good news is that it’s possible to have the best of both worlds.

There are all-natural weed killers out there.

But why not save a few bucks and make your own?

You can. You just have to find a recipe that actually works.

We found that recipe and are going to share it with you.

This recipe uses three (yes, just three!) ingredients that won’t put chemicals in the ground and will keep your vegetables and herbs from your garden healthy.

You don’t have to worry about it messing up your water supply or soil, or if it will harm your pets or children, or breathing in harmful chemicals when you’re using the stuff. Blogger and mom from Kitchen Fun With My Three Sons shares the recipe.

All you need is one gallon of vinegar, 1/4 cup of dish soap, 2 cups of Epsom salt or regular salt, a gallon-sized container, and a spray bottle.

The best part is that this stuff ends up costing only about $3 to make.

First, grab your gallon container and pour in your 2 cups of Epsom salt.

You can also use regular salt instead.

Then pour in your one gallon of vinegar. Put the cap on and shake your mixture up.

Let this mixture settle for at least an hour so that the salt can fully dissolve.

Once the mixture was fully incorporated, you can pour in 1/4 cup of dish soap.

Shake up your mixtures again until is it thoroughly mixed together. You can transfer your mixture into a spray bottle for easy application. Now it’s time to get rid of those weeds. Take your spray bottle and spray your weeds.

Make sure you spray the weeds at the base and saturate well.

It might take a full day before the weeds completely die off, but they will.

If they are big weeds, you might have to give them a second spray down. Bigger weeds will definitely need more sprays.

You must be careful not to spray any grass or plants you don’t want to die with this spray.

That’s because this spray will kill pretty much any living plant it comes in contact with.

“Be careful with it,” Reichert said. “It doesn’t know the difference between a weed and a flower.”

It’s also best to do this on a sunny day because the sunshine and heat help the plant to wither away and die.

There are lots of recipes out there for DIY natural weed killer.

Some recipes will substitute salt for some borax. Just Google to find your favorite.
