The first major area that everyone should start at is the cabinets beneath your sink, or the area you store all your cleaning supplies and bathroom goodies. Once this area is organized it will be easier to clean the rest of the bathroom because you will know where your supplies are. All you have to do is buy $1 containers from your local dollar store to keep everything organized.

Make sure to wipe the insides of the cabinets before putting your new organized containers into their individual space.

Kathryn, our guru to deep cleaning on a budget, likes to clean from the top down which starts with dusting.

Kathryn advises to buy a dollar duster from a dollar store. This duster will make it easier to dust hard to reach places, such as light fixtures. After dusting all needed areas, it is time to move onto faucets, starting with the shower faucet. You should use vinegar on a toothbrush to deeply scrub the fixtures. After the grime is gone from the faucets, use baby oil to make the faucets really shine!

Let’s move on to cleaning the toilet.

Kathryn advises to use one-dollar cleaning supplies for the toilet as well. She does not only use a one-dollar toilet cleaner but also one-dollar antibacterial wipes to clean the entire outside of the toilet. Her biggest hack tip for cleaning your toilet is to wrap an antibacterial wipe over the top of a screwdriver. You will use this to clean the crevices around the toilet that are unreachable to clean by hand.

After using your toilet bowl scrub, let it dry, and pour Pine-Sol into its holder. This will clean the scrub after using it, keeping the scrub clean as well.

She uses Renuzit Scent Swirls, which can be found for $1 at your local Wal-Mart. These have no flames, perfect for the kids, but will still have your bathroom smelling great, with a scent of your choosing.

Let’s jump in the shower and see how Kathryn will help you keep it sparkling on the cheap.

Using a dish cleaning wand, for only a dollar, you should fill it with vinegar and a few drops of dish soap. This dish wand will be used to clean the shower glass doors but can also be used on all shower surfaces. Next, you should rinse all the shower surfaces with hot water and use a squeegee to rid all remaining water spots. Your shower doors will sparkle like they are brand new.

Ridding bad set in stains in the bathroom can be the most difficult to clean. Kathryn advises to use Soft Scrub Cleanser, which is $1. Apply the Soft Scrub Cleanser straight onto the stain and scrub it off with a little elbow grease.

Once you rinse off the cleanser, those set-in stains should be gone!

After the shower, it is time to do the normal bathroom cleaning. Kathryn cleans the mirrors and countertops, but she has an extra step to really deep clean. She wants everyone to clean the front of their cabinets. This will remove dirt from fingertips and any muck that has gotten onto the cabinets over time.

The last cleaning step is to clean the bathroom floor with a mop or scrub.
