There’s nothing worse than a dirty hairbrush. At first, it’s one or two strands that’s easy to pick off. Then you forgot to do it for a couple of days and a clump of hair has pooled between the bristles. And before we know it, it’s just a mess.
Use an old pantyhose to clean it quickly. Pull an old one over the brush and press it below the bristles. When you pull it off the brush, the hair will come with it. Once it’s clean, you can place a clean piece of the pantyhose again at the base of the bristles and just remove it when it’s full again.
Whether you’ve lost a small object on your carpet or the couch or the floor, you can find it with this vacuum+pantyhose hack. Use an old pantyhose and pull it over the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner hose. Secure it with a rubber band. Turn on the vacuum and start looking for that missing object. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find the other small objects you lost before.
Using toothpaste, sponge, and an old pantyhose, use this combination to clean your dirty, white shoes. Stuffing the sponge inside the pantyhose will prevent scruffs on the shoes and give you a nice scrub.

6. Clean fish tank safely
Once you’ve safely removed the fish and transferred them to a safe place, pull a pantyhose over the vacuum hose nozzle and secure with a rubber band. Then carefully move the hose around the fish tank. The pantyhose will prevent the sand or pebbles from being siphoned out and it won’t disturb the tank accessories, too.
Use old pantyhose to store your onions. Place them inside one at a time and tie the hose in between each onion. Every time you need one, just cut it off the hose carrier. And don’t worry. You’ll be able to use the pantyhose that was cut off.
When you’re in a pinch and far from a car shop, you can use a pantyhose as a temporary fan belt. It’s not a long-term fix though. Once you’ve secured it, be sure to bring it to a car shop immediately to have fixed.
9. Repair torn door screen
You can use pantyhose to repair torn screen. If you can remove it from the door or window, do it and wash it clean. Once it’s dry, glue the pantyhose on the screen to cover the hole. You can cut off the edges of the torn screen to clean it up and prevent any injuries.
Prevent clogs in spray bottles with a pantyhose. Cover the open end of the tube with a small piece of pantyhose. Secure it with a rubber band before closing the spray bottle. When you spray, you don’t need to worry about lumps clogging the spray nozzle now.
11. For that last piece of soap
Want to use every last bit of the soap but it keeps slipping off your hands? Place them inside a pantyhose. Be sure to tie it up so the soap stays inside. Wash your hands as usual with this pantyhose soap.
When you buy a can of paint, you’d want to use every last bit of it, right? But sometimes, there are lumps to prevent us from using every bit of it. Use your pantyhose to strain the paint and lose the lumps.
13. Prevent mosquito bites
When you can’t go outdoors because mosquitos tend to feast on you, here’s a hack for you! Wear pantyhose on your arms and legs to prevent mosquito bites!
Did someone open a stuffed toy and took out most of the stuffing? Or maybe they did this to your favorite pillow? Not to worry! That’s what your old pantyhoses are for. Fold them up into balls and stuff away. You can also add stuffing inside the pantyhose so the next time this happens, it’s not so destructive.
15. Alternative dust bags
Want to protect your precious bags and wallets from dust, dirt, insects and from aging prematurely? Use a dust bag! Don’t have one? Use your old pantyhose! Stuff the pantyhose inside the bag or wallet to preserve its shape then place it inside the pantyhose, which acts as its dust bag.
16. No more pointy shoulders
Wrap pantyhose around both ends of the hanger. This will prevent pointy shoulders on your tops and dresses that are so hard to smoothen down.
Use a wire hanger and open it up into a diamond. Insert the pantyhose to transform into a makeshift skimmer. Use this to filter out your pool. Or you can use this to dust off your home.
You can use pantyhose to secure bedsheet on a cot. Or you can use it to secure big boxes together, or a bundle of magazines, newspapers, or books together.

Before stuffing the flowers in the pantyhose, lay the petals on top of a paper towel or cloth and spray it with perfume or room spray. Smear petroleum jelly all over the pantyhose. This will prevent moths from climbing up and laying eggs on the fruits.
Isn’t it so annoying when you throw trash in your bin and the garbage bag has slipped down? So now you have to reach inside to fix the trash bag. Prevent this from happening by securing your trash bag with a pantyhose secure band.
Need an easy and effective way to store your flower bulbs during the winter so you can plant them in the spring? Store them inside a pantyhose and use a masking tape to ID the bulb and secure it inside. Hang them up in a cool, dry space so the air can circulate freely and prevent mold and rot.
32. Keep animals off the garden
Are deers always sneaking into your garden and eating your crops? Here’s a good way to keep them out. Fill a pantyhose with human hair clippings and hang them on the areas where the deers tend to nibble on. This will turn them off. You may need to replace the hair every four or five days when it loses scent. You can just go to the nearest barbershop or salon and ask if you can collect their hair trimmings.
Kids love to catch fireflies and place them inside jars. But of course, the covers that come with the jars are not conducive to fire flies since they’re closed. Instead of punching holes on the lid, use a panty hose to still allow a lot of air to circulate in the jar but still prevent the fireflies from escaping the jar.
34. Varnish in the crevices
No matter how fine your brush is, it can’t fit in the tight corners or crevices. You’ll need something smaller. That’s where pantyhose comes in. Wrap it around a popsicle stick or just a small stick and secure with a rubber band. Dip in the varnish and apply it to the area. Easy peasy.
Sanding your wood table but not sure if it’s smooth enough? Cover your palm with pantyhose and run your hand across the table. If the pantyhose snags, you need to sand more. Do it again and again until the pantyhose no longer snags.
