We all have hobbies and it’s satisfying when we get to do them whenever we want to. These activities also enrich us as an individual and give us happiness. However, hindrances are always there. There are things and sometimes even people who will halt us from doing our favorite pastimes.
A man from Oklahoma also experienced this moment once in his life. It made him angry and motivated at the same time.
He is Paul Phillips and he extremely loves fishing. When I say extremely, I mean it. He even has a favorite lake and that is Lake Oologah. Wait, there’s more! Paul also has a favorite spot on that lake. His passion for fishing is oozing.
One time, he was told that he can’t fish in his favorite spot. If you are a musician, it’s like you were told to stop singing. And that doesn’t feel good, right? Mr. Phillips took that unwanted experience as an encouragement to go the extra mile to make a way for that activity that he really loves.
“One of these days I’ll have a place of my own and nobody can tell me I can’t fish there,” he firmly said.
He isn’t just talking about a lake or pond alone, his dream is something bigger than that.
Because of his love for fishing, he did a huge thing that also changed his life.
This passionate man is a contractor in the Skiatook area. He has built numerous houses in the area and he realized that he wanted something that would enable him to do his hobby anytime he wants. And that is to build his own house where fishing is accessible.
He did everything to turn that dream into reality.
He bought a huge piece of land and made it an ideal place for fishing by renting a backhoe and dug out the pond. After that, he hired a contractor who would build his dream house.
A building that’s 1,850 square feet was built. It consists of three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a spacious living room.
His living room is not just a simple spot where you can relax – it is also where he can do his favorite activity.
There’s this spot in the middle where there’s a large hole. When you open that hole, it allows you to fish from the pond. How cool is that? It is a four-by-four hole and it is situated right by the fireplace so the owner can enjoy fishing while enjoying the warmth.
Another thing that makes Mr. Phillips happy is his neighbors who are also excited about his amazing idea.
“The lady next door, she loves to fish and this lady here, she can’t wait ’til spring to get here so she can hear the frogs a hollerin’,” he happily told the reporters.
The carpenter that Paul hired for the job also shared his thoughts about his unique idea. The carpenter admitted that he had never built something like this in the past. On the other hand, he finds it really fun.
Paul’s passion and determination to achieve his dream is truly inspiring. Many people got also inspired by his story and appreciated his persistence.
