Now retired, Dan uses his expertise as an inventor and builder to create original spaces that attract people from all over the world.

It has taken several years for Dan to create his Airbnb rental collection, and he isn’t finished yet.

Now, this is a man cave.

The first space Dan built was his man cave. He wasn’t even thinking about renting it out until a friend suggested he try Airbnb.

He took the friend’s advice but was shocked when he received so much interest.

“Well…much to my surprise and glee, I had lots of people that wanted to rent it.” – Dan told Tiny House Giant Journey

A miniature town called “Danville”

Of course, Dan had to name it after himself because he built it himself. Dan decided to keep building after his mancave was a success.

His next project would be a mini-town built inside an old airplane hanger. Sounds crazy, right?

Well, it’s adorable and people come from far and wide to rent the space for weddings and events. Complete with a pub and movie theatre, “Danville” is a tiny town that’s loaded with charm.

Greeting the world without leaving home.

Dan spoke to Tiny House Giant Journey about what keeps him interested in building the Airbnbs.

“What I learned was I was getting to meet some of the most interesting people in the world. So instead of traveling, I have people travel here and I learn about different cultures and different countries. So it makes it an interaction that works very well for me, I’m very grateful for the opportunity to do it.” – Dan told Tiny House Giant Journey

Why not build a treehouse?

Dan’s next endeavor was to build a 2-story treehouse complete with an elevator. The elevator was painted by a local artist to make it look like a tree stump.

And it has a hot tub!

The treehouse also features a hot tub built from a piece of an airplane engine. Guests can relax in the 101-degree soaking tub and rest their wine glass on the center table.

There is also an outdoor shower made out of two sheep watering troughs and a covered sitting area that guests can enjoy if it rains.
